My verdict: I personally prefer Gemini. The biggest factor is the speed. It's about 5x faster than ChatGPT. And has fewer limitations. As far as image quality goes, I think there are certain themes ChatGPT gets better (ie minimalism) but broadly speaking, the Gemini images I think are better, more detailed, and more interesting. I used ChatGPT 5.0 and Gemini 2.5 Pro
