if you are betting on ETH, then basically you are betting on centralized opinionated corporate chains being a really big thing in the future that need Ethereum's trust-mitigation services
I am consciously betting on that. I believe corporations will not want the value leakage and loss of control entailed by being an app on a general purpose chain, but they will still want to be onchain, and want to offer their users at least *some* of the trust guarantees that come from a decentralized/autonomous system. . .therefore they will be centralized L2s, but connected up to a decentralized/autonomous L1. . .
not everyone betting on ETH seems to know what they are really betting on. . .or they think L2s will pay all the cost of being decentralized themselves but still somehow also want to pay vig to Ethereum...no, if they become decentralized then they can just be L1s. . .
