Michael Saylor's Strategy officially sells Bitcoin for the first time in over 3 years According to the SEC filing on June 1, Strategy sold 32 BTC at an average price of 77,135 USD/BTC, raising about 2.5 million USD. This is the company's first Bitcoin sale since the tax-loss harvesting transaction in December 2022. After the transaction, Strategy still holds 843,706 BTC (equivalent to ~4% of the total supply), with an average purchase cost of 75,699 USD/BTC. Reason for sale: To pay dividends for preferred stock. Saylor had revealed in the May earnings call that a small amount would be sold to "help the market gradually get used to" the company potentially selling BTC when needed. However, the amount sold only accounts for 0.0038% of holdings. Strategy remains the largest Bitcoin holder among publicly listed companies.
