Gold overtaking U.S. Treasuries as a reserve asset is not just a gold story. It is a trust story. For decades, central banks treated U.S. Treasuries as the cleanest reserve asset in the world. Liquid, dollar-based, politically central, and easy to deploy. Gold was different. It was old, silent, non-yielding, and often treated like a backup asset for crisis periods. But now the balance is shifting. If gold is sitting at 27% of global central bank reserves while Treasuries are around 22%, that tells us central banks are no longer thinking only about yield or liquidity. They are thinking about control, neutrality, and survival in a more divided financial system. That is the deeper signal. Treasuries are someone else’s liability. Gold is not. When geopolitics becomes more unstable, that difference starts to matter more than interest income. A Treasury gives you yield, but it also sits inside the dollar system. Gold gives no yield, but it carries no issuer risk, no sanction risk, and no counterparty promise. This is why central bank buying after 2022 matters so much. China, India, Poland, Turkey and other buyers are not just diversifying. They are slowly reducing dependence on one financial center. They are building reserves that cannot be frozen, blocked, inflated away by another country’s policy, or politically weaponized as easily. The interesting part is that this is happening while gold buying has eased from peak levels. Even with slower purchases, the reserve composition keeps changing because the world is repricing safety itself. Safety used to mean holding the most liquid paper asset. Now safety increasingly means holding something outside the paper system. For crypto people, this is worth watching closely. Gold is winning because institutions want neutral collateral. Bitcoin wants to be part of that same conversation one day, but gold has something Bitcoin is still building: central bank-level trust across cycles. So the real lesson is not gold good, Treasuries bad. #AnthropicFilesForIPO #HYPEHitsNewATH #StrategySellsBitcoin $BTC $XAU $XAUT
